Work Work Work (Pub Club Sleep)

First off, apologies: we know it's been a while since our last blog post!  Work, sleep, spring, work, new guitars! and composing have been taking over our lives at the moment but it doesn't mean that things have stopped.  In fact, we have many things to tell you and we hope that you might also share them with others.

1) We are playing a headline show at the Box in Crewe on the 16th April.  We played there last September in support of the excellent Troops of Mafeking and The Telegraphs and it's nice to be invited to headline the place.  Tickets are available now.  Details of how to get to the place are on the TourDates page.  Crewe Music said some very nice stuff about us last time.

2) We are taking part in a Rage Against the Machine influenced insurgency against manufactured music called 'Storm the Charts'  which is a campaign to storm the UK charts with unsigned music.  With the increasing demise of important supporters of new music such as BBC 6 Music, it's never been better to make a stand to protect unsigned bands in the UK.  Please join the campaign and support new music and us!

3) Our music is now live on SPOTIFY and available internationally from major digital download retailers such as ITunes, Napster, Play and Amazon.  However, if you sign up as a member of our glorious site, for now you'll be able to download our music for free!

Busy Busy

Hello everybody!

First things first, should have mentioned this before but we were all excited after the last gig and I forgot to mention it...
MEN Citylife Interview with Will!

It's really great that we were featured in the MEN, it's an important paper in Manchester and has a massive readership. Hello to you if you found us through that article!

The next, more important, thing is that for the next 2 weeks, any profits we make from
music or merch sales will go to Haiti aid, not sure which specific charity but we'll work it out shortly.

Finally, here's some
pictures from the Roadhouse two weeks ago!

Addendum:  If you got a spare hour and a half or so I'd highly recommend checking out the Flight 666 documentary (all parts are up on youtube for now), the film that Iron Maiden made back in 2008 where they bought a Boeing 757 and took it on one of their world tours.  It's probably one of the most interesting rock documentaries that I've seen for a while - James x

Hope you're all well and free from natural disaster.
Love, Dom.

On Ice

 Hello Everybody,

After a great week writing and a short break we were lucky enough to headline at the Roadhouse in Manchester on Friday night.

It was great actually, support from Natural Invention and Neil Ward both went down well, we played 2 new songs, neither of which went wrong...

Although a slightly smaller audience than expected (probably given the cold) everyone who came was great fun and came right down the front to make us feel welcome! Only other downer on the evening was that the Roadhouse was ABSOLUTELY FREEZING. I know it's cold and heating is expensive, but even with the 50 or so people hanging around it was freezing. Guitars were going out of tune in seconds, we were doing full sporting warmups in the green room to try and loosen up and james's bass broke because the temperature does bad things to wooden instruments!

So while playing Featherhead as an opener (just to mix things up a touch) we went a bit silly, particularly james, who was far too cold to play properly and opted instead for leaping about like a bassist possessed, which is just fine by the rest of us.

We promise there will never be another of our gigs (at least, not indoors) which is so damn cold. For our own sakes if nothing else.

Anyway, back on break now, we're all back at work separately and looking forward to Easter when we'll be getting together again for reasons which may become clear eventually...

We're working on festivals for the summer at the moment, so check back for some news over the next few weeks!

love,
Dom.

Symphonic Met-al

"Met-al

met... al..."

With the beautiful sonority of Christopher Lee's* voice still ringing in our ears, we're pretty sure we won't be making any symphonic metal anytime soon... on the other hand, we have a few new ideas still in the works. Two new things have emerged which at least sound quite like songs. This is a positive step. Hopefully we will (met...al) come up with some more bits and bobs before we go our seperate ways on Saturday afternoon.

Yesterday, we went up a hill near my house, there were around 3 inches of snow. Some nice people gave us some bags to sit on and we used gravity to get back down. It was pretty fun.

Three of us are gonna be in Manchester on Sunday searching for gear, Dom's after a beautifulsupamegasparkly acoustic, Jamie is after new distortion and Will needs a paper bag for his collection of antique agricultural tools.

*This is fantastic entertainment...

Retreating from giant crabs

So it's day two of our writing retreat and things are going well.  Amidst the new ice age which is taking place around us, we've begun to put together a collection of new material.  It's been a fun time involving us experimenting with different instruments, effects and approaches to creative noisemaking.

We've also been shopping for new gear.  A very nice shop in Shrewsbury provided us with an assorted collection of leads, plectrums and a rackmount tuner. Magpie instinct fully engaged by flashing blue lights...

In our downtime we've been amusing ourselves with watching numerous episodes of Life (no-one does nature better than David Attenborough) and playing Anti-Monopoly, an awesome 'response' to the original classic Monopoly

much love
xx
